The 1.8's seem to go through coils A LOT more than the 3.0'sin any case though, there is a recall on both motors. Overall I'd venture the 3.0 is more reliable than the 1.8, but since most of the A4's out there (and especially on the enthusiast sites) are 1.8's it could just be the ratio of 1/8's to 3.0's. I'm likely going to be in the market for a 2019 A4/A5 or S4/S5 and am looking for feedback regarding the reliability of the 2.0T used in the B9 A4, A5, and Q5. I have a 2011 A4 that has been reliable except for excessive oil consumption, which plagued the 2.0T for several years.
